This year, I'm going into eighth grade. And for the eighth time, I've managed to make a list a mile long of all the goals and accomplishments I want to reach before going into the next grade. Unfortunately, that really long list has never been completely checked off. For example, I have been putting 'I'm never going to be late to school' on the list since I was 8, but as far as the school records go, you'd think I'm trying to be tardy. I've also been putting 'I'm going to run 3 miles in less than 25 minutes' on it for the last three years, but I'm pretty sure I've never done that either. And last but not least I've been trying to start a blog since 5th grade, but this just happens to be my very first post.
As you can see, this whole list thing is not a very effective system for me. Sure, it means I can tell myself 'Don't let this year be like last year', but that sense of accomplishment just seems to dissapear. So, instead of taking all that time to write down all those clubs I want to join and all those things I want to do, I decided to simplify. This doesn't mean it's going to be easier, it just means I'm going to focus on what is more important to me. This year's list looks more like this:
Mental:
-Get 4.0 every term
-Write at least 3 posts a week
-Practice every day
Physical:
-Excersise 20 min. a day
-Drink soday only on weekends
-Be able to run 3 miles by March
Spiritual:
-P.J.S. (Prayer, Journal, Scriptures) everyday
- Read to Alma by Christmas
-Pass off Faith, Divine Nature, and Virtue in Personal Progress
Sure, it doesn't sound like a whole lot, but getting all As in math, science, and us history sure keeps me busy! At least now I have a more practical amount of work to get done in the next 9 months.
